Sri Vijaya Puram (Andaman & Nicobar Islands) [India], January 31 (HBTV): The Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) on Friday said it had successfully intercepted and apprehended nine marine poachers in the Northern Andaman Sea following a joint operation based on specific intelligence inputs.

In a post on X, the ANC said enhanced surveillance was initiated after receiving information about likely poaching activity in the area. ‘Acting on specific intelligence received of likely poaching activity, HQ ANC enhanced surveillance in the Northern Andaman Sea. Joint patrols by ANC units led to the apprehension of nine poachers onboard a dinghy with diving equipment on January 29 by ICGS Rajshree near Narcondam Island,’ the post stated.

The ANC said the operation reaffirmed its resolve to safeguard India’s maritime frontiers and maintain round-the-clock vigilance in the region. (ANI)
