Maharashtra [India], February 10 (HBTV): Maharashtra is set to roll out a new statewide government recruitment system, with plans to fill over 70,000 posts in phases, including around 50,000 through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). The move follows a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, aimed at accelerating governance reforms and administrative changes, with a focus on human resource management and transparency in recruitment.

In a post on X, Fadnavis said the new recruitment system would be implemented across the state, with hiring decisions based on required skills, service entry rules, eligibility criteria and the nature of work. He added that all key departments have been directed to fast-track comprehensive administrative reforms, with priority given to human resource management and transparency in the recruitment process. According to him, a decision on amendments to the state’s service recruitment rules will be taken shortly at a cabinet meeting.

The Chief Minister also noted that the human resource management model presented by the Maharashtra government at the Chief Ministers’ Conference, held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was widely appreciated, with other states encouraged to adopt the reform model. He said the initiative positions Maharashtra as a guiding example for other states in governance reforms.

Emphasising the use of technology, Fadnavis said online and digital verification systems would be developed to ensure the entire recruitment process remains transparent, credible and fast. He added that a new governance reform model would take shape in Maharashtra within the next year, with every department playing a vital role in its implementation.

On Monday, Fadnavis chaired a meeting on reforms in the General Administration Department, reiterating that decisions on administrative reforms, human resource management and recruitment transparency would be finalised soon at the cabinet level. The Chief Secretary and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
