Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh) [India], November 6 (HBTV): In a shocking incident from Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district, a man allegedly cut off his wife’s nose over suspicion of infidelity, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place in Padalwa village under the jurisdiction of Ranapur police station on Tuesday.

According to Superintendent of Police Shiv Dayal Singh, a complaint was received at the Ranapur police station stating that the husband of a 23-year-old woman had assaulted her and inflicted a severe injury on her nose. The woman was immediately hospitalised, and based on the Medico-Legal Certificate (MLC) provided by the hospital, an FIR was registered. The accused husband was subsequently arrested and sent to jail.

‘In the preliminary investigation, it came to light that the husband used to doubt his wife’s character, which led him to commit the crime,’ SP Singh said.

The accused, identified as Rakesh Bilwal, had reportedly travelled to Gujarat a few days earlier with his wife for work. A dispute arose between them over allegations concerning her character, prompting the couple to return to their home in Padalwa village on Tuesday.

The victim recounted that upon reaching home, her husband began to assault her before cutting her nose with a blade. ‘When we were coming from Gujarat, I asked him for a divorce. He told me we would discuss it with my family after reaching home. But as soon as we arrived, he started beating me with a stick and then cut my nose with a blade. After that, he took me to the hospital. My son kept shouting, but he didn’t stop,’ the woman said.

Police have confirmed that the accused has been remanded in judicial custody, while the victim is receiving medical treatment. The case remains under investigation.
