Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 4 (HBTV): Officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) intercepted two passengers on a Hyderabad-to-Mumbai bus and seized 16 kilograms of the psychotropic drug Mephedrone.



Based on specific intelligence regarding the smuggling of Mephedrone, a substance regulated under the NDPS Act, 1985, officers mounted overnight surveillance and intercepted the passengers in the early hours of December 3.



A search of the passengers' baggage resulted in the recovery of 16 kg of white powdered substance, which was confirmed through preliminary testing to be Mephedrone.



In follow-up actions, three middlemen and receivers were also apprehended in Mumbai. During subsequent searches, INR 1.93 crore in cash was recovered.



A total of 16 kg of Mephedrone and INR 1.93 crore in cash were seized, and five individuals were arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
