Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], May 15 (HBTV): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said that youth will play a pivotal role in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
‘For this, the youth must stay away from drugs. Only when they are physically fit and healthy will they be able to contribute significantly to achieving this dream,’ Saini said.
He stated that, responding to the Prime Minister’s call, campaigns against drug addiction are being organised across the country. As part of these efforts, a march against drug addiction was held in Chandigarh, where youth from the Tricity region and their parents participated with enthusiasm. According to Saini, this enthusiasm sent a strong message — that when the youth commit to a cause, they pursue it with determination.
‘Today, the energy of the youth in Chandigarh demonstrates their alignment with the Prime Minister's vision for a developed India. The message of this padyatra is that drug addiction must be eradicated from every household,’ he added.
He also stressed that there should be no stain of drug abuse on the city of Chandigarh, urging youth to stay away from drugs and help preserve the city's beauty.
Saini said that the Haryana government has launched a public awareness campaign against drug abuse, which has received considerable support from the public.
‘Strictest action is being taken against drug dealers and they are under constant surveillance,’ the Chief Minister said, urging citizens to strengthen the campaign against drugs.
He added that the anti-drug initiative is not merely a programme but a collective resolve to rid society of the menace, ensure a brighter future for the youth, and build a healthy and developed nation.
Several dignitaries, including Punjab Governor and Administrator of Union Territory Chandigarh Gulab Chand Kataria, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, participated in the anti-drug march.
