New Delhi [India], November 20 (HBTV): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested four more prime accused in the November 10 car blast outside the Red Fort in Delhi, taking the total number of arrests in the case to six.
The four accused — Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama (Jammu and Kashmir), Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir), Dr Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian (Jammu and Kashmir) — were taken into custody in Srinagar on production orders issued by the district sessions judge at Patiala House Court.
According to the agency, all four played a key role in the terror attack, which killed several people and left many others injured.
Earlier, the NIA had arrested two other accused — Amir Rashid Ali, in whose name the car used in the blast was registered, and Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, who had provided technical assistance to the terrorist involved in the attack. The four newly arrested accused will be confronted with those already in custody.
‘Their interrogation is continuing as part of NIA's efforts to unravel the complete terror conspiracy in the case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI,’ the agency said.
The investigation was handed over to the NIA by the Union Home Ministry shortly after the blast. The agency has been working with multiple state police forces to track down every individual linked to the terrorist module.
A total of 15 people were killed and more than two dozen injured when a moving Hyundai i20 car exploded around 7 pm on November 10. The vehicle was driven by an alleged suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi.
The NIA took over the probe the following day and launched a large-scale search operation. As per the agency, Amir had travelled to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the vehicle, which was later used as a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED).
Investigators have forensically identified the deceased driver as Umar Un Nabi, a resident of Pulwama district and an Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al-Falah University in Faridabad.
The agency has also seized another vehicle belonging to Nabi, which is being examined for evidence. So far, 73 witnesses have been questioned, including survivors of the blast.
Working in coordination with Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police and other agencies, the NIA said it is pursuing multiple leads to uncover the full conspiracy behind the attack and identify any remaining suspects.
