Noida (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 20 (HBTV): Noida International Airport is expected to significantly boost economic growth in western Uttar Pradesh while enhancing global connectivity for the Delhi-NCR region, according to an official release.
The release said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has accorded top priority to the timely completion of the greenfield airport project and has been regularly reviewing its progress to ensure that farmers and families who contributed land for the project receive maximum benefits.
Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority chief executive officer Rakesh Kumar Singh said, ‘Special programmes have been implemented to benefit Project Affected Families at the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.’
The project is being developed under the public-private partnership model and is led by Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd and Noida International Airport Ltd. It involves the participation of more than 30 companies, including Tata Projects, Indian Oil and the Bird Group. According to the release, the project is generating over 5,000 employment opportunities, with provisions for government-mandated benefits such as minimum wages, provident fund, ESI and gratuity.
To support employment for project-affected families, more than 180 candidates have registered on an online career portal. Over 300 youths participated in three special recruitment camps, following which offer letters were issued to 24 candidates.
Skill development initiatives are also underway. ITI Jewar has been modernised, and courses such as passenger handling and ramp operations are being conducted. Of the 28 trainees enrolled, 24 have secured employment. Additionally, around 100 youths from project-affected families have received training in English and soft skills. A joint committee comprising officials from Noida International Airport Ltd, the district administration and Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd is monitoring these initiatives.
The airport is being developed as a state-of-the-art facility with a focus on achieving net-zero emissions. With an initial annual passenger handling capacity of 1.2 crore, it is expected to emerge as a key economic hub for western Uttar Pradesh, creating new employment opportunities and supporting regional development.
