Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], February 8 (HBTV): Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested Santanu Mohapatra, deputy director and project director of the Watershed Department in Malkangiri, along with four associates on corruption charges.



Officials recovered INR 2 crore from Mohapatra's possession during searches.



‘In connection with the searches carried out against Santanu Mohapatra, deputy director and project director of the Watershed Department in Malkangiri, we have placed him under arrest today,’ Odisha Vigilance Director Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa told ANI.



A case of disproportionate assets has been registered, he said. ‘For the last two days, searches were ongoing. INR 2 crore in cash was recovered from his possession,’ he added.



‘Four of his associates—three junior colleagues from the same office and a private individual acting as a conduit for bribery collection—have also been arrested,’ Jethwa said.



Further investigation is underway.
