Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], December 15 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has inaugurated the newly upgraded Regional Forensic Science Laboratory in Gorakhpur, describing it as a major step towards strengthening the state’s criminal investigation framework.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the modern forensic science laboratory would act as a game-changer in the justice delivery system, adding that the state government aims to establish one such advanced lab in each mandal. He said the upgraded facility is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure to help speed up investigations.

Yogi Adityanath said the laboratory includes advanced facilities such as a DNA centre, a world-class DNA laboratory, and dedicated AI, drone and robotic labs. He added that a modern State Forensic Institute has already been established in Lucknow, and the upgraded Gorakhpur lab will complement these efforts by ensuring faster and more reliable forensic analysis.

The Chief Minister further said the state government has allocated two mobile forensic laboratory vans to each of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. He said these mobile units would collect samples directly from crime scenes, ensuring that investigations are not delayed due to a lack of evidence. He added that credible forensic evidence would now be available within hours, preventing criminals from escaping punishment because of investigative delays.

He also said the State Forensic Institute in Lucknow will focus on training and education, creating employment opportunities for young people in the field of forensic science. According to him, various certificate, diploma and degree courses have been introduced to build skilled manpower in this sector.

Yogi Adityanath said the expansion of forensic infrastructure is aimed at securing credible evidence against criminals involved in serious offences and ensuring swift justice for victims and their families.
