Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 17 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the families of the eight people killed in a road accident in Bulandshahr, a press release said.
According to the release, the Chief Minister took cognisance of the accident and directed district officials to immediately shift the injured to hospitals and provide proper treatment. He also wished them a speedy recovery.
Eight people were killed and around 45 others injured when a container truck collided with a tractor trolley carrying devotees near Ghatal village on National Highway 34, in Bulandshahr's Arnia police station area, officials said.
Bulandshahr SSP Dinesh Kumar Singh confirmed that the victims included a child and two women. The devotees were travelling from Kasganj to Gogamedi in Rajasthan to visit Jaharpir (Gogaji).
Police and administrative officials, including the District Magistrate and SSP, rushed to the site following the accident. The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals, while the bodies of the deceased were taken into custody for post-mortem examination, officials said.
SSP Singh said, ‘An unfortunate incident occurred on NH-34, near the Aligarh border, around 2:15 am. Around 60–61 people were travelling in a tractor from Kasganj to Rajasthan when a speeding container truck hit it from behind, causing the tractor to overturn and leaving many injured. Eight people have died.’
He added that out of the 45 injured, three remain critical and are on ventilators. ‘Forty-five people are currently undergoing treatment, with the condition of all except three being stable. The tractor has been removed from the site, and the truck that caused the accident is in police custody,’ the SSP said.
