Kurukshetra (Haryana) [India], December 16 (HBTV): Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Sunday attended the All India Devasthanam Conference as the chief guest on the sidelines of the International Gita Mahotsav 2025 in Kurukshetra.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President said he felt deeply honoured to stand on the sacred soil of Kurukshetra, often referred to as the land of the Vedas. He noted that the site has been revered for thousands of years as the place where Lord Shri Krishna imparted the divine wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna, and said Kurukshetra continues to remind humanity that Dharma ultimately triumphs over Adharma, regardless of how powerful the latter may appear.
Describing the Bhagavad Gita as more than a religious text, Radhakrishnan called it a universal scripture for righteous living, courageous action and enlightened consciousness. He emphasised that Lord Krishna’s message of focusing on one’s actions, guided by Dharma, is central to leading a meaningful and purposeful life.
Highlighting the importance of character, the Vice President said moral strength and clarity of purpose matter more than wealth or worldly achievements. He added that the Gita guides humanity towards a virtuous and disciplined life, reminding individuals that devotion to righteousness is the foundation of inner strength.
Expressing hope that the teachings of the Gita would continue to guide individuals, societies and nations towards peace and harmony, he underscored the enduring relevance of its philosophy in the modern world. He also noted that the annual Gita Jayanti celebrations have evolved into a global cultural and spiritual festival over the past nine years.
Radhakrishnan congratulated the Haryana government and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for establishing the International Gita Mahotsav on the global stage and for showcasing the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and the rich cultural heritage of Sanatan Dharma in an accessible manner for people of all age groups.
He praised the festival as a platform that reinforces values such as duty, self-discipline and the pursuit of excellence, describing them as pillars of the national vision of a self-reliant and developed India by 2047, as articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Vice President also commended the conference organised by the Kurukshetra Development Board and the Gita Gyan Sansthan, noting that it brought together saints, scholars, technology experts, artists and cultural leaders from across the country. He said such events strengthen cultural dialogue and inspire young minds to see the Bhagavad Gita as a living guide to courage, humility and wisdom.
Concluding his address, Radhakrishnan urged those present to imbibe the eternal teachings of the Gita, act in accordance with Dharma, acquire knowledge, embrace peace and contribute to the welfare of humanity.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Earlier in the day, the Vice President visited the Maa Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth Temple in Kurukshetra and offered prayers. (ANI)
