Dima Hasao, Assam, January 9 (HBTV): The illegal coal mining tragedy in Umrangso in Assam has become a burning topic in the state and brought the question of illegal mining to the fore. After the Congress, Trinamool Congress and other political parties, the Sixth Schedule Protection Committee has spoken out against illegal coal mining in Umrangso of Dima Hasao district of Assam.  



A delegation of the committee led by former councilor Daniel Langthasa met the district commissioner of Dima Hasao district and submitted a memorandum to the chief minister of Assam. In their memorandum, the committee demanded an immediate stop to all illegal mining. They demand that all those involved in the illegal activity be arrested.  



The district’s administration has been urged to investigate illegal mining activities in Umrangso and take proper action against them. Langthasa asked why the government has not taken any action for so long.
