Nagaon, Assam, April 24 (HBTV): An independent candidate to the Lok Sabha elections Shikha Sharma from Assam was seen campaigning in Nagaon without supporters. There are only two days left for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 26.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, and the All India United Democratic Front are busy campaigning in huge rallies. However, for independent candidate Sikha Sarma, she is campaigning all alone. Apart from just a bodyguard and her husband, no one is visible as she goes about interacting with people.

Shikha Sharma is a female writer and a litterateur who is contesting as a independent candidate from the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat.

Sarma told the media that for the past five years, she had been with the people and working for the welfare of the people. The ‘BJP has put the public to trouble and the situation these days is not a good thing’.

‘There is 32 lakh unemployed people in Assam, but the BJP government has given only one lakh jobs. The BJP has communal thinking. They think of separating Hindus and Muslims. That is why I am doing work from the past five years at the grassroots level’, she said.

Further, Sarma said the Congress party has not done anything for the Muslims of Assam.

‘The Congress came to power by taking votes from Muslims but what did it do with the people. Therefore, there is a need to throw the Congress out of India,’ she added.
