Aizawl (Mizoram) [India], December 6 (HBTV): A joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police on Thursday led to the recovery of 775 kg of explosives, 4,700 detonators, and other materials in the Hnahthial district of Mizoram.



According to the PRO of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East), the operation was initiated based on specific intelligence regarding the movement of explosives and war-like items in the general area of Thingsai in Hnahthial. A mobile vehicle check post was set up by the joint team.



‘The alert troops intercepted a vehicle, conducted a thorough search, and apprehended two individuals. The operation resulted in the seizure of 775 kg of explosives, 4,700 detonators, and 2,250 meters of Cordtex. The apprehended individuals and recovered items have been handed over to the police,’ the PRO stated.



Further investigations are ongoing.



In a similar operation last month, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police intercepted a vehicle in the Serchhip district of Mizoram and recovered six 12-bore single-barrel rifles. One individual was apprehended. The joint operation was also conducted following specific intelligence about the movement of weapons in the area.



The confiscated rifles and the apprehended individual were handed over to Mizoram Police for further legal action.
