New Delhi [India], April 30 (HBTV): The Central government has approved INR 153.36 crore in additional assistance to Manipur, which was affected by a hailstorm in 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in a communique on Tuesday.

A High-Level Committee (HLC), chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, made the decision to provide this additional assistance.

The assistance will be drawn from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and is subject to an adjustment of 50 percent of the opening balance available in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), the MHA stated.

'The additional assistance is over and above the funds already released by the centre to the states from the SDRF, which have already been placed at the disposal of the states,' the MHA added.

During the financial year 2024-25, the Central government has released INR 20,264.40 crore to 28 states under the SDRF and INR 5,160.76 crore under the NDRF to 19 states, as per the MHA.

Additionally, the government has released INR 4,984.25 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 19 states and INR 719.72 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to eight states.

For the financial year 2025-26, the Central government has released INR 895.60 crore to one state under the SDRF and INR 929.633 crore under the NDRF to seven states so far. (ANI)
