Hailakandi, Assam, February 6 (HBTV): A terrible road accident occurred along National Highway 6 in Hailakandi district of Assam on Thursday. A head-on collision between an overloaded and speeding truck and a motorcycle claimed the life of a person and his eight-year-old son.   



The deceased was identified as one Saleh Ahmed Barbhuiya and his son Tanish Ahmed. Irate locals infuriated by the rash driving blocked the National Highway and demanded compensation for the victims and that they repair the roads.   



The locals also demanded severe punishment for the truck driver. A team of the Hailakandi police came to bring the situation under control but the enraged mob demanded a written assurance from the district administration.    



The situation was normalised after the arrival of Hailakandi’s superintendent of police Leena Doley and elected representative of Algapur, Nizam Uddin Choudhary.
