Imphal, Manipur, November 16 (HBTV): An irate mob stormed the residences of several legislators as well as state ministers in Manipur's Imphal on November 16.

Angry protesters damaged residential gates, shouted slogans, and clashed with the police and even burned properties of some legislators as the situation in the ethnic-violence hit state worsened.

Hundreds of people gathered around residences of the members of the legislative assembly of Sagolband constituency, Patsoi constituency, and even those of cabinet minister Ranjan, among several others.

Manipur's Imphal witnessed a wave of protests at the historic Khwairamband Ima Keithel on Saturday, November 16 over the kidnapping of the six people including children.

The marketplace, celebrated as Asia’s largest all-women market, became the epicenter of a mass protest. Vendors, alongside local residents, staged a protest at the market site, decrying the recent abduction and brutal killing of six individuals in Jiribam, which has sent shockwaves throughout the state.

Adding to their frustration was the recent decision to re-impose the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in six police jurisdictions across the state. Protesters emphasized that such measures, perceived as draconian, only deepen public discontent and fear.
