Imphal, Oct 6, 2025 (HBTV): Security Forces in Manipur have stepped up counter-insurgency operations, arresting multiple insurgents and extortionists, seizing arms, narcotics and huge cash, while successfully diffusing an IED in Jiribam district.

On October 5, an IED planted at Makhabasti, Jiribam, was safely neutralised, averting a major threat to public safety. Earlier, two persons were arrested in Imphal East, with security forces recovering ₹38.02 lakh in cash and 2 kg of WY tablets from their possession.

In a separate operation the same day, an active cadre of KCP (PWG), Rajkumar Sanathoi Singh (18), was arrested from Imphal West. A .32 pistol, magazine and mobile phone were recovered from him. Two others—Sarangthem Dinesh Singh (29) and Khundrakpam Mohen Singh (25)—were held in Bishnupur district for extorting money from vehicles along NH-02. A two-wheeler and a mobile phone were seized.

On October 4, security forces apprehended two RPF/PLA cadres in Bishnupur district. Khumukcham Biren Meitei alias Dhiren (40) was arrested for extorting money from schools, colleges and shopkeepers, while Khangembam Manglemba Singh alias Sunny (46) was caught monitoring and relaying security movements. Phones and SIM cards were seized from both.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police intensified area domination exercises and installed 115 checkpoints across the state. Vehicle checks led to the removal of tinted films from three vehicles.

Authorities have urged citizens not to spread or believe in rumours, warning that circulation of fake social media posts and unverified videos will invite strict legal action. The public has also been appealed to return looted arms and ammunition immediately to police or security forces.
