Imphal, Manipur, January 31 (HBTV): Manipur police have arrested two active cadres of an organisation calling itself the ‘Volunteers Welfare Fund,’ from the Sagolband Tera area, police said.



The individuals were identified as one Yumlembam Khelen Singh (40) and a Huidrom Langambam Singh (30). They were involved in extortion in Imphal. Two mobile phones, a lock and key, and an extortion note were seized from them.



In another enforcement case, security forces along the foothills of Chairel Khunou hill under Wangoo PS in Kakching district seized a cache of arms and ammunitions.



An assault Rifle, a 9 mm pistol with an empty magazine, an Improvised Explosive Device weighing approximately five kg, two .36 HE grenades, a smoke shell, a tear smoke grenade, a PEK stick with fuse and a detonator; a line of wire, two.303 empty cases, a blank cartridge, a helmet, a BP vest, a pair of jungle boots and other items were seized during the operations.
