Bogota [Colombia], June 8 (HBTV): Miguel Uribe, a presidential candidate in Colombia, was shot during an event in the Fontibon district of Bogota, according to a statement from the Colombian national police, as reported by CNN.



Bogota Mayor Carlos Galan confirmed that Uribe is currently receiving emergency medical treatment. The mayor stated that the entire hospital network in the capital has been placed on alert for any possible transfer that may be required.



Authorities have confirmed that the suspected attacker has been arrested.



The Colombian government has issued a statement strongly condemning the attack on Uribe, which took place on Saturday.
