New Delhi [India], June 2 (HBTV): The Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday allowed an application filed by NEET-UG paper leak accused Yash Yadav, seeking permission to access books for preparation for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled on June 21.
The court also extended the judicial custody of Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal, Dinesh Biwal, Yash Yadav and Dhananjay Lokhande till June 15.
Special Judge (CBI) Ajay Gupta allowed Yadav's plea to keep books while in judicial custody.
Appearing through video conferencing, Advocate Ambika submitted that Yadav required the books to prepare for the NEET-UG examination scheduled for June 21. She further informed the court that he had also appeared for the NEET-UG examination held on May 3.
During the hearing, the court asked whether counsel had confirmed that the National Testing Agency (NTA) would permit Yadav to appear for the examination despite being an accused in the case and whether he had been issued an admit card.
On May 20, the Rouse Avenue Court had remanded five accused to judicial custody following interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the NEET-UG paper leak case.
Investigating Officer Deputy SP Pawan Kumar Kaushik moved applications seeking an extension of judicial custody. Senior Public Prosecutor Neetu Singh appeared for the CBI.
Advocate A.P. Singh appeared for Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal and Dinesh Biwal, while Advocate Vikram represented Dhananjay Lokhande.
The prosecution submitted that an FIR was registered on May 12, 2026, based on a complaint filed by a government official under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Prevention of Corruption Act and laws relating to the use of unfair means in examinations.
According to the allegations, Mangilal Biwal contacted Shubham Khairnar to obtain the question paper for his son, Vikas Biwal, following which a larger network involving other accused persons was formed.
The investigation further alleges that Shubham Khairnar first leaked the paper to Yash Yadav, who then passed it on to Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal and Dinesh Biwal.
Mangilal Biwal allegedly obtained the leaked NEET-UG paper from Yash Yadav in exchange for INR 10 lakh. During interrogation, Vikas Biwal reportedly stated that he had come into contact with Yash Yadav during coaching classes in Sikar.
The CBI has also alleged that Mangilal Biwal subsequently sold the leaked paper to several candidates for INR 12 lakh.
In the case, the CBI has additionally arrested Shubham Khairnar, Manisha Waghmare, Prahalad Kulkarni, Manisha Mandhare, Manisha Sanjay Hawaldar, Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, Dr Manoj Shirure and Tejas Harshad Kumar Shah. All of them remain in judicial custody following CBI interrogation.
