Kohima: Philately Workshop, re-launch of ‘Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana’

Kohima [Nagaland], June 22 (HornbillTV): Department of Post, Kohima organized a philately workshop and re-launched the Deen Dayal Sparsh Yojana, Nagaland Division today at the Children's Christian School in Kohima. And for the first time in Nagaland, Philately Club was launched at the school premise.



Assistant Superintendent of Posts, Kohima Sub Division, Joy Justin Bongcher highlighted the importance of Philately. He said that Philately is the study of stamps and postal history and other related items and one can take up as a hobby, as it satisfies one's aesthetic tastes and educates by expanding knowledge about interesting details of politics, history and prominent personalities etc. He stated that the main aim objective is to enrich students with knowledge via the medium of stamps and interesting philatelic products.



Sharon Losu, Incharge Philately Nagaland presented the Deen Dayal Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude and Research in Stamps (SPARSH) Yojana Scheme. She said that the scheme is proposed to award annual scholarships to those students who have good academic record and pursue Philately as a hobby. A total amount of INR 60,000 per year will be provided to the students and candidate must be a student from class six to nine of a recognised School within India and the concerned school should have a Philately Club and the students as members of the club.
