Massive ganja haul: 4,746.406 kilograms of suspected marijuana seized in Ri-Bhoi district

Ri Bhoi, Meghalaya, March 5 (HBTV): Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi police and the E/67 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force have seized on March 3 approximately 4,746.406 kilograms of suspected marijuana. 



Authorities received credible intelligence indicating that a truck was being suspected of transporting contraband. The authorities detained the vehicle and apprehended a suspect, 48-year-old Babulal Sheikh, reportedly from Naldurg in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra.          



The police uncovered a staggering 4,746.406 kilograms of marijuana concealed in the truck. The authorities seized the Tata truck and cash amounting to INR 3,760. In response to the incident, a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was being filed at Umiam police station at press time.     



Ai investigation is underway to unravel the network involved in the illicit trade.
