Agartala, Tripura, March 7 stories (HBTV): Tripura witnessed history being made on March 7 as two TIPRA Motha party leaders were sworn in as ministers in the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

The Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance or TIPRA Motha is the principal opposition in Tripura.

Animesh Debbarma, the Leader of the Opposition in the assembly, and MLA Brishaketu Debbarma took the oath of office and secrecy in a ceremony administered by Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan on Thursday morning.

While the allocation of portfolios to the newly appointed ministers is pending, Manik Saha expressed confidence in their contribution to Tripura's development.

Following the event, Saha left for Kolkata. In his remarks, newly appointed Minister Animesh Debbarma emphasized the continuity of responsibilities despite the change in roles. He pledged to work in accordance with the directives of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and TIPRA Motha party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman.

Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, the royal scion and founder of the TIPRA Motha party, asserted that the party's ministers would advocate for the interests of the Tiprasa community within the state cabinet.

Responding to queries regarding the demand for "Greater Tipraland," Debbarman likened it to the BJP's core demand for the Ram Mandir, emphasizing the party's unwavering commitment. He clarified that TIPRA has not compromised on Greater Tipraland, but now the goal was to ensure that the accord is implemented effectively within the timeframe.

Debbarman said the cardinal points of the accord are the socio-economic, political, and linguistic uplift of the indigenous people of the state. He said to want that to be implemented first.
