Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 28 (HBTV): A case has been registered against OP Srivastava, Deputy Managing Director of Sahara India, for allegedly failing to pay salaries worth nearly INR 2 crore to a couple who had worked for the company between 2016 and 2020.
The complaint, filed by Arindam Banerjee at Aliganj police station, alleges that despite multiple requests and reminders, the company did not disburse their complete dues. The police have registered the case under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the complaint, Arindam Banerjee and his wife Shibani Banerjee provided services to Sahara India for four years, but were not paid their full salaries. OP Srivastava, who was responsible for overseeing employee compensation, is accused of failing to ensure payment of their dues.
The couple stated that despite several communications and follow-ups, only a small portion of the outstanding amount was deposited into their accounts in June 2023. Arindam Banerjee's pending dues reportedly amount to INR 95,13,761, while Shibani Banerjee’s are around INR 20,21,263.
On April 19, 2024, the couple issued a legal notice to Srivastava, demanding that the outstanding amount be settled within 15 days. Following the notice, Sahara India deposited INR 3,56,000 and INR 2,00,000 into their respective accounts. However, a substantial amount remains unpaid.
The FIR alleges that the company caused wrongful loss to the couple through deception and breach of trust. Srivastava, who had signed Arindam Banerjee’s appointment letter, is specifically named in the complaint. The couple also claimed that their grievances were repeatedly ignored by company officials.
Police have initiated an investigation into the allegations. (ANI)
