New Delhi [India], May 18 (HBTV): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the state government is functioning in proactive mode, ensuring that pensions under various social security schemes are processed automatically, eliminating the need for beneficiaries to visit government offices.
The Chief Minister was addressing the 'Financial Assistance Distribution Ceremony' organised at the Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh for beneficiaries of various public welfare schemes. Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana was also present on the occasion.
During the event, the Chief Minister transferred the first pension instalment to 24,695 new beneficiaries of various social security pension schemes directly into their bank accounts with a single click. A total amount of INR 7.48 crore was disbursed. He congratulated all new beneficiaries and reiterated the government’s commitment to regular financial support under its welfare programmes.
Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, the state government had invited applications for pensions from eligible individuals under various schemes. In April 2025, a total of INR 7.48 crore was approved and disbursed to the new beneficiaries. With this addition, the total number of beneficiaries under these pension schemes in the state has now risen to 35,16,814, with a monthly expenditure of INR 1,060.16 crore.
According to an official release, the number of old age allowance beneficiaries has increased by 17,407. In addition, there has been an increase of 1,673 beneficiaries under the widow pension scheme, 864 under the handicapped pension scheme, 1,700 under financial assistance for destitute children, and 2,062 for widowers and unmarried persons.
Other additions include 530 beneficiaries under the Ladli social security allowance, 106 disabled children not attending school, 351 cancer patients in the third and fourth stages, one beneficiary under the transgender allowance, and one under assistance for those suffering from rare diseases.
Deputy Commissioners from various districts of the state also participated in the function through video conferencing.
