Hassan (Karnataka) [India], July 29 (HBTV): The Karnataka Lokayukta on Tuesday conducted raids at the residences of multiple government officials across the state in connection with allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The residences raided included that of Jayanna, Executive Engineer of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in the Hassan division, and N Venkatesh, a Revenue Officer of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in Bengaluru.
These raids follow a series of similar state-wide operations conducted in recent weeks. On July 23, the Lokayukta had raided the residence and office of Sunil Kumar, an Executive Engineer in the Health and Family Welfare Department, based in Kalaburagi. Officials stated that they are currently examining documents seized during the search.
Sunil Kumar, a resident of Hallikheda B village in Humnabad taluk of Bidar district, is serving in the engineering wing of Kalaburagi district.
In Bidar, the Lokayukta team also found gold ornaments, cash, watches and other valuables at the residence of Maruthi Bagli, Assistant Director of the Town and Country Planning Department. This operation was led by Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Hanumantharai.
Last month, Lokayukta officials had launched an extensive search operation across seven properties linked to a Circle Police Inspector (CPI) of DB Patil Circle in Gadag Town Police Station. The raids were in response to allegations of acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income.
This operation, led by Lokayukta CPI Parashuram Kavatagi and supervised by DySP Pushpalatha and officer P.S. Patil, covered premises in Gadag, Bagalkot, Jamkhandi, and Kerur. Officials reportedly examined cash holdings, property documents and financial records as part of the investigation.
In another related action, the residence of an Assistant Government Officer (AGO) in Shivamogga was also searched. The officer was booked under Shivamogga Crime No. 9/25, and Lokayukta officials carried out a thorough search to collect evidence of alleged disproportionate assets.
