New Delhi [India], July 5 (HBTV): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the law and order situation in the state and the progress of ongoing excise auctions.

Issuing strict directives to the Home Department, the Chief Minister called for an aggressive ‘High Octane drive’ against criminal elements and stressed the need for a responsive and vigilant police presence throughout Haryana. He stated that maintaining robust law and order remains the government’s top priority, according to an official press release.

CM Saini expressed serious concern over the reported murder of an excise licensee in Kurukshetra and directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to take swift and decisive action against the culprits.

He also instructed the DGP to implement immediate security measures for citizens reporting threats and extortion attempts. The Chief Minister ordered the creation of a dedicated phone number for such complaints and its integration with emergency helpline 112.

Reviewing the performance of the Excise & Taxation Department, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete the auction process efficiently and ensure full realisation of expected revenue. The state has so far auctioned 934 excise zones, securing revenue of INR 11,054 crore — a significant increase from last year’s INR 5,037 crore. The auctions have reportedly received a strong response.

According to officials, CM Saini issued firm instructions to the police to maintain a visible and active presence that reassures law-abiding citizens while deterring criminal activity.

The Chief Minister emphasised the need to instil a strong fear of law among wrongdoers and anti-social elements, thereby ensuring a decisively safer environment for the public.

He further mandated that all high-priority cases be rigorously monitored at the highest levels and instructed that the State Task Force (STF) be strengthened with additional personnel and resources. The STF has been tasked with resolving all pending cases within a strict, time-bound framework, ensuring no gangster or criminal remains at large.
