Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) [India], November 13 (HBTV): Rescue operations are underway after four people were killed in a train accident in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district, officials said.
Bilaspur District Collector Sanjay Agrawal informed that the accident occurred when the last bogie of a local train and the first bogie of a goods train collided near Bilaspur.
‘The last bogie and first bogie of a local train and a goods train collided near Bilaspur. Four people have lost their lives in the accident. Rescue operation is underway,’ Agrawal said.
Inspector General Sanjeev Shukla stated that several people were injured in the collision, and rescue teams were working to evacuate those trapped inside the damaged coaches.
‘A MEMU train and a goods train collided, in which some people have been injured. The rescue operation is underway. We are trying to rescue a person trapped inside,’ Shukla said.
Officials confirmed that four people were killed when a passenger train hit a goods train near Bilaspur station at about 4 pm on Tuesday.
They added that the railways have mobilised all available resources, and medical treatment is being provided to the injured.
