Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 27 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on the opposition in the state Assembly, accusing it of selective outrage and appeasement politics while referring to the killing of a Dalit youth in Bangladesh.

Adityanath alleged that the opposition remained silent on atrocities against Hindus in neighbouring countries while raising its voice selectively on international issues. ‘You people shed tears over everything that happens in the Gaza Strip, but not a single word comes out of your mouths when a Dalit youth was killed in Bangladesh,’ he said.

He accused the opposition of using such issues for vote bank and appeasement politics. The Chief Minister further claimed that incidents against Hindus would not have taken place had Pakistan and Bangladesh not been created. ‘You hold candle marches over Gaza, but when a Hindu is killed in Pakistan or Bangladesh, your mouths are shut because the victim is a Hindu, a Dalit,’ he said.

Calling for a strong response, Adityanath said a condemnation resolution should be passed in the Assembly. ‘A condemnation resolution should come from the Leader of the Opposition. We condemn this incident and warn the Bangladesh government,’ he stated.

He also targeted the opposition over illegal immigration, alleging support for Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas. ‘When we expel Bangladeshis from here and show Rohingyas the way out, don’t come to their support. You have got many of them registered as voters and even Aadhaar cards made,’ he alleged.

India on Tuesday summoned the Bangladesh High Commissioner for the second time in a week amid strain in bilateral ties following recent developments in the neighbouring country. The summons came amid protests in Bangladesh over the killing of student leader Sharif Osman Hadi and the lynching of Dipu Chandra Das in two separate incidents.

Dipu Chandra Das, a 27-year-old youth, was killed in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district, triggering widespread criticism and renewed concerns over the security of minorities. He was allegedly beaten to death by a mob over accusations of blasphemy, and his body was later set on fire on December 18.

Bangladesh’s Interim Government condemned the incident. Education Adviser C R Abrar visited the family of Dipu Chandra Das on behalf of the government and expressed condolences, assuring them of financial and welfare assistance. The Office of the Chief Adviser said the authorities would remain in close contact with the family and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring justice and protecting all citizens.
