A special training session on 'Empowering Public Representatives: Strengthening Communication and Governance through Artificial Intelligence (AI)' was organised for MLAs in the Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 28 (HBTV): A special training session on 'Empowering Public Representatives: Strengthening Communication and Governance through Artificial Intelligence (AI)' was organised for MLAs in the Uttar Pradesh State Assembly in Lucknow.

Congress MLA Aradhana Misra-Mona said that Uttar Pradesh has been made digital and the use of AI will simplify many processes.

‘This is worth appreciation. AI is the future. Gradually, everything is becoming AI-based. AI is being used in every sector. Our Assembly has been made digital. So, the use of AI will make many things simpler, especially for public representatives. An IIT Kanpur professor attended a workshop, which included a question-and-answer session. I think this will be a very successful effort,’ Misra-Mona said.

UP Minister Asim Arun stated that proceedings in the Assembly and development work would reach new heights with the use of AI.

‘Today, the state government is adopting technology and a training session was conducted on the topic "Empowering Public Representatives: Strengthening Communication and Governance through AI", in which we were told how Artificial Intelligence is being used in the world and how we can use it to provide benefits to the public. The state government is committed to making the state and the country developed by 2047,’ Arun said.

UP Minister Jaiveer Singh noted that AI training would help representatives serve the public more effectively.

‘A training session was conducted on how to use Artificial Intelligence for the benefit of the public. The government is ready to address all the concerns raised by the opposition. If the house functions smoothly, it will be in the interests of the state and the government,’ Singh said.

Responding to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s criticism of the 24-hour discussion and allegation that the government has achieved nothing in the past nine years, Singh said a vision document 2047 would be presented to make Uttar Pradesh a USD 1 trillion economy.

UP Minister Anil Rajbhar urged the opposition to cooperate in the Assembly and raise public concerns constructively.

Earlier on Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Vidhan Sabha’s renovated dome ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. He also inaugurated the renovated Assembly Mandap, Assembly Hall No. 15 and the VIP lounge. Following this, the CM participated in an all-party meeting convened by Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, attended by leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties.

The Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha is scheduled to begin on August 11, as per an order issued by the Assembly Secretariat on July 26. The order stated, ‘Sri Rajyapal, Uttar Pradesh has summoned the Uttar Pradesh Eighteenth Vidhan Sabha to meet at 11.00 a.m. on Monday, the 11th August, 2025, in the Vidhan Sabha Mandap, Vidhan Bhawan, Lucknow for its Second Session of the year 2025’.

The Assembly will now also come under surveillance of state-of-the-art AI cameras. The system will be introduced as a pilot project in this monsoon session and fully implemented from the upcoming winter session. The technology will monitor security, attendance, activities and performance of MLAs.

AI-based cameras with facial recognition will be installed in the Assembly, capable of identifying MLAs through detailed profiles that include name, party, constituency, gender, date of birth, photo and other personal details. The system will record which MLA attended, duration of stay, subjects of speeches and overall participation. It will also conduct topic-based content analysis to enhance transparency in Assembly proceedings.
