Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 8 (HBTV): The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has initiated the direct procurement of maize from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the first time during the Rabi crop season.

The procurement began on June 15 and will continue until July 31. Purchases are being carried out daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. under the marketing year 2024–25. Maize is being procured from farmers at an MSP of INR 2,225 per quintal.

During a recent visit to Auraiya, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inquired about the status of maize cultivation and assured farmers that the government is committed to promoting their welfare and prosperity.

The maize procurement is being conducted in the following districts: Badaun, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Firozabad, Hathras, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Auraiya, Kannauj, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Bahraich, Ballia, Gonda, Sambhal, Rampur, Ayodhya, and Mirzapur.

To sell maize at MSP, farmers must register on fcs.up.gov.in or via the UP KISAN MITRA mobile app. Only registered farmers will be eligible for MSP benefits. Farmers should register using their active mobile number to complete the process through a one-time password (OTP).

Additionally, the farmer’s bank account must be Aadhaar-linked and mapped to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) portal. Payments for the maize will be credited directly to farmers' Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Public Finance Management System (PFMS).

For assistance, farmers can contact the toll-free number 18001800150 or approach the District Food Marketing Officer, the Regional Marketing Officer of their tehsil, or the Marketing Inspector of their block.

Earlier on Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over appointment letters to 60,244 newly selected police constables, calling it a major step towards strengthening the state's security system. During the ceremony, he emphasised the importance of rigorous training, stating, ‘The more sweat you shed in training, the less blood you will shed in life.’
