Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 27 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday expressed deep sorrow over the death of a youth who fell into a drain in Lucknow's Thakurganj area.
According to an official release, the Chief Minister swiftly ordered the suspension of the Junior Engineer and issued a notice to the Assistant Engineer. He also announced INR 9 lakh in financial assistance to the victim's family—INR 5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and INR 4 lakh from the Disaster Relief Fund. Emphasising accountability, he stated that no negligence affecting public safety would be tolerated.
The Chief Minister further directed the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department to ensure full accountability in the Thakurganj incident. He ordered a thorough investigation into the roles of the responsible officers and agencies.
He also instructed that an FIR be lodged against the construction agency involved so that those guilty of negligence are appropriately punished. He remarked that this was not merely an accident but ‘a serious administrative failure that must be corrected immediately’.
Stressing that the state government is taking the incident very seriously, Adityanath assured that all efforts will be made to prevent such occurrences in the future. He directed the Lucknow administration to extend full support to the victim’s family without delay and reiterated the importance of ‘strict, transparent, and time-bound action against those responsible’.
He affirmed that the safety of citizens remains the government’s top priority and that negligence at any level will not be tolerated.
