Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 17 (HBTV): Under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state is moving forward in its digital governance efforts by accelerating the digitisation of old revenue records and documents, according to an official release.
The Stamp and Registration Department has intensified efforts to permanently preserve old revenue records by digitally archiving documents dating back to before 1990. An agency will soon be selected to implement this task.
The department is undertaking the scanning and digitisation process in phases. According to a progress report presented to the Chief Minister, 95 per cent of deeds registered between 2002 and 2017 had been digitised as of April 2025.
Simultaneously, the tendering process for the digitisation of records from 1990 to 2001 is underway through UPDESCO. In the upcoming third phase, the focus will shift to preserving records from before 1990.
This initiative is expected to significantly ease access to revenue-related documents. Once scanned, the physical copies of the records will be transferred to a central record room, reducing the storage burden on sub-registrar offices. This will create more space in offices and ensure the long-term safety and preservation of vital documents.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s digital push is not only modernising administrative systems but also making them more accessible to the public. The digitisation of records will streamline access to information and reduce the time and effort required to retrieve old documents. This step is being seen as a major milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s journey toward becoming a digitally empowered state.
Earlier, on May 16, the Chief Minister launched the logo and website of Maa Vindhyavasini University, Mirzapur, at his official residence.
Maa Vindhyavasini University is a newly established state university envisioned to transform the higher education landscape of the Vindhya region.
