Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 17 (HBTV): P K Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, conducted site inspections and chaired high-level review meetings in Dholera and Lothal to assess major infrastructure projects aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for industrial and economic growth, according to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Mishra visited the under-construction Ahmedabad-Dholera Greenfield Expressway, being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). He highlighted that the expressway would reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to 45 minutes and called for timely execution while maintaining global-quality standards.

At the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Mishra reviewed the progress of the Dholera International Airport, where officials informed him that cargo operations are expected to begin by October 2025. He instructed authorities to adhere to timelines and ensure effective connectivity with the expressway.

He also inspected Tata Electronics' Semiconductor Fabrication (Fab) project, a flagship initiative to boost domestic chip manufacturing for mobile devices, consumer electronics, and automotive applications. Additionally, Mishra visited social infrastructure sites—including schools, hospitals, and residential complexes—being developed by Dholera Industrial City Development Limited (DICDL), where he stressed the importance of user experience and integrating stakeholder feedback.

A comprehensive review meeting followed, attended by senior officials from DICDL, DIACL, NHAI, Airports Authority of India, and Indian Railways. Mishra evaluated progress on major infrastructure projects, including the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, Bhimnath-Dholera Freight Rail Link, Ahmedabad-Dholera Semi-High-Speed Rail Line, and Dholera International Airport. He reaffirmed the Government of Gujarat’s commitment to establishing Dholera as a global-standard smart industrial city and stressed the need for timely project completion, a skilled workforce, and robust planning.

Mishra also inspected the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) in Lothal, a flagship initiative under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW). He chaired a review meeting with T Ramachandran, Secretary, MoPSW, along with officials from the Gujarat Maritime Board, Archaeological Survey of India, NHAI, and Indian Railways. Mishra emphasised that the NMHC should be a scholarly tribute to India’s maritime history, calling for deep research, academic collaboration, and a carefully curated visitor experience.

He reviewed environmental sustainability measures, including plantation of local species and water management systems, and underlined the importance of narrating India’s maritime legacy from the Harappan civilisation onward. Mishra directed that Phase I-A construction—which includes six galleries—be completed by August 2025.

Mishra was accompanied by PMO officials Tarun Kapoor, Advisor to the Prime Minister, and Mangesh Ghildiyal, Deputy Secretary, PMO, the release added.
