Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 3 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a review of development projects and the law and order situation at Varanasi's Circuit House, directing officials to fast-track all ongoing works in mission mode and ensure timely completion.
According to an official statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Adityanath stressed the importance of cleanliness, stating that Varanasi must not lag behind in sanitation and should aim to be among the top five cleanest cities. He directed the Municipal Commissioner to conduct regular cleanliness drives to meet this objective.
The Chief Minister also called for the widespread publicity of the state government's newly introduced building bylaws to enhance public awareness. He instructed officials to organise seminars and use social and digital media platforms for outreach.
On the issue of road widening, he instructed that religious structures be relocated in consultation with local residents and suitable alternatives be identified. CM Yogi warned implementing agencies against delays, stressing strict accountability. He further directed the immediate commencement of the Dalmandi road widening project after the monsoon.
In his mission to make Varanasi Tuberculosis-Free by November, the Chief Minister instructed the Chief Medical Superintendent to take all necessary steps, ensuring active participation from public representatives in the campaign.
To ensure smooth infrastructure and essential services, Adityanath directed the Power Department to provide uninterrupted electricity supply.
He asked the District Basic Education Officer to ensure 100% enrollment of children in council schools and called for the timely distribution of school supplies, including bags, uniforms, shoes, and socks. He also emphasised the need for sufficient teacher deployment so that no school remains understaffed.
On the matter of law and order, the Chief Minister directed officials to monitor and take strict action against individuals disrupting social harmony through fake social media accounts. He instructed law enforcement to identify and act against those inciting caste-based tension or engaging in activities that threaten peace. He underscored the importance of strengthening the local intelligence network and enhancing police vigilance.
Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal briefed the Chief Minister on preparations for the Shravan month, including law and order arrangements, traffic management, and ongoing police campaigns.
