Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 20 (HBTV): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has congratulated Pankaj Chaudhary on being elected as the new state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, expressing confidence that the party organisation and the government would move forward with renewed momentum.
Addressing a felicitation programme in Lucknow, the Chief Minister said an experienced party worker had been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. ‘On behalf of all the party workers, I welcome Pankaj Chaudhary as the party’s new state president. The process of our organisational elections in Uttar Pradesh has been completed. Now, with the resolve to move forward in accordance with the Prime Minister’s vision, the government and the organisation will gain new momentum,’ he said.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal formally handed over the charge of the BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit to Pankaj Chaudhary in the presence of senior party leaders and workers.
Pankaj Chaudhary, who is also the Union Minister of State for Finance, is a seven-time Member of Parliament from Maharajganj. He succeeds Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, who was appointed state BJP president in August 2022.
Expressing gratitude to the party leadership, Pankaj Chaudhary described his new role as a significant responsibility. ‘This responsibility is more serious and challenging than all my previous ones. However, I am confident that the support, dedication and commitment of BJP workers across Uttar Pradesh will help me fulfil this responsibility,’ he said.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the party would secure more seats in the 2027 Assembly elections than it did in 2017 under Chaudhary’s leadership. UP Minister Danish Azad Ansari also congratulated the new state president, saying that the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the development of the state would be effectively implemented with organisational support.
