Jorhat (Assam) [India], November 2 (HBTV): A massive fire in Assam's Jorhat gutted three shops early Saturday morning, police said.
According to Jorhat police, properties worth crores were destroyed in the fire. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far, they added. Efforts to douse the flames were ongoing at the time of filing the report.
Speaking to ANI, Jorhat SP Shwetang Mishra stated that fire tenders and firefighters were working to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby shops. Upon receiving information about the incident, fire engines rushed to the scene to control the blaze.
Visuals from the site showed thick black smoke rising from the massive fire.
"The cause of the fire will be determined. Fire tenders are present at the spot, and firefighters are working to prevent the fire from spreading and to ensure the safety of nearby shops. The fire will be brought under control soon," SP Mishra said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, he added.
