Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 18 (HBTV): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said the state education department is prioritising the delivery of quality education, with special emphasis on digital learning.
Speaking at a felicitation programme for meritorious students who passed the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations at Town Hall, CM Saha, who also serves as the education minister, said infrastructure development in schools was a key area of focus. He highlighted the Prime Minister's Pariksha Pe Charcha initiative, aimed at reducing examination stress by encouraging students to treat exams as a challenge rather than a source of pressure.
Saha expressed confidence that the students would perform even better in the future and called for healthy academic competition.
The Chief Minister noted that success in life often stems from patience and dedication, even if a student does not score high marks in exams. He also referred to the Prime Minister's view that talented individuals from non-political backgrounds should be encouraged to enter politics to reform the system.
He added that the National Education Policy 2020, developed with India's cultural values in mind, would benefit students in the long term. The policy has enabled significant reforms across the state’s education system.
CM Saha stated that several schools in Tripura have been converted to English medium. Under the Super 30 project, the state secured one IIT, three NIT, and three MBBS admissions for the 2024–25 academic year. Initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Merit Award and the introduction of common question papers have also been implemented.
He announced that INR 153 crore had already been spent on constructing new buildings in 44 schools, and infrastructure development is planned in around 30 more schools, with an additional allocation of approximately INR 264 crore.
This year, 345 schools achieved 100 per cent pass results in secondary education with an overall pass rate of 86.53 per cent, while 39 schools recorded 100 per cent results in higher secondary education, which saw a pass rate of 79.29 per cent.
The event was attended by Bharatiya Janata Party Sadar Urban District President Asim Bhattacharya, Baradowali Mandal President Shyamal Kumar Deb, Municipal Corporation Corporators Abhijit Mallick, Alok Roy, Ratna Dutta, Janhvi Das Chowdhury, and other senior leaders.
