Silchar, Assam, January 4 (HBTV): Cachar Police in Assam have seized a huge consignment of a banned cough syrup. The police conducted a special operation on Friday evening following information about the transportation of illegal narcotic substances near Dhamcherra under the jurisdiction of Borkhola police station.   



The police team seized 74 boxes of the syrup concealed under a highway culvert. Each box contained 150 bottles. The police seized a total of 11,100 bottles of Codeine-based cough syrup.   



The price of the narcotics substance in the black market is estimated to be about two crore rupees. Further investigation into the matter is on, said Cachar superintendent of police, Numal Mahatta.
