Silchar, Assam, November 22 (HBTV): The bodies of nine people from the Meitei community at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital at Silchar in Assam have been handed over to the Jiribam Joint Action Committee on Friday afternoon.   



The dead bodies, believed to be casualties from the ongoing ethnic unrest in Manipur, were sent to the hospital for postmortem.   



The Jiribam Joint Action Committee had been refusing to accept the dead bodies and has been demanding justice and compensation from the Manipur government.  



The Joint Action Committee will hand over the bodies to their family members and conduct the funeral rites at Jiribam. The president of the committee told the media that the acts of killing the innocent people demands justice.
