Umsning, Meghalaya, April 9 (HBTV): Tensions flared during an election campaign of the National People’s Party in Umsning in Meghalaya, as its supporters and those from the Voice of the People Party (VPP) engaged in a heated argument.

The incident unfolded during NPP candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh’s Lok Sabha canvassing campaign at Umsning. The situation prompted Ampareen Lyngdoh to urge the VPP party supporters to disperse.

At approximately 5:00 pm, amid Lyngdoh's campaign efforts, a group of VPP supporters arrived and began shouting, which lead to a clash between the VPP and NPP supporters. This prompted the police to intervene to restore order.

Several VPP supporters were taken to the Umsning Police Station.

The quarrel, occurring just days before the Lok Sabha Election scheduled for April 19, underscored the unexpected challenges authorities face during campaign activities.
