Robber steals INR 30,500 in coins from Jiribam SBI branch

An unidentified person stole INR 30,500 in coins from the Jiribam  State Bank of India branch, located on the second floor of Jiribam Supermarket, in Manipur on Monday.

Imphal, Manipur, May 22 (HBTV): An unidentified person stole INR 30,500 in coins from the Jiribam  State Bank of India branch, located on the second floor of Jiribam Supermarket, in Manipur on Monday.

Updates on Wednesday based on CCTV footage suggested the involvement of one individual.    

The main door was found unlocked when staff members arrived in the morning. An inspection by security guards confirmed the robbery. INR five coins worth approximately INR 12,500 and INR 10 coins worth approximately INR 18,000 were found missing when the strong room was inspected.

The looter damaged the CCTV camera installed inside the bank and covered another CCTV camera at the entrance with plastic.

A team of Jiribam district police arrived at the scene and examined the CCTV footage during which it was found that a person had sneaked into the bank through a window around 9:30 pm on Monday.      

The person was seen inside the bank till 4 am Tuesday. A case has been registered at Jiribam police station and investigation initiated.
