Agartala (Tripura) [India], October 29 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha participated in a pledge-taking ceremony on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Agartala on Monday.
The event, dedicated to promoting national unity and commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, brought together government officials, students, and local citizens to reaffirm their commitment to national integration and social harmony.
Following the ceremony, the Chief Minister flagged off the "Run for Unity," which saw enthusiastic participation as the crowd set off from Swami Vivekananda Maidan to Umakanta Academy.
Speaking to ANI, Saha highlighted that the Prime Minister declared October 31 as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in 2014 to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. "However, due to Diwali falling on the same date this year, we are celebrating it on October 29. The Prime Minister has paid respect to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on this occasion," he said.
He further emphasized the importance of unity among the people of Tripura and the significance of the 'Run for Unity' initiative. "The people of Tripura should have unity among them. We should all maintain the purpose of the 'Run for Unity,'" Saha stated.
The run aimed to symbolize the enduring spirit of unity and the importance of national solidarity, reflecting Sardar Patel's vision for a united India.
Earlier today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah remarked that the Unity Run is not only a commitment to India's unity but also a resolution for a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
