Silchar, Assam, November 30 (HBTV): A youth was killed in a road accident on Friday night when his motorbike collided with the rear of a parked lorry along the Silchar-Aizawl National Highway.



The 12-wheel lorry, which was loaded with goods, was parked in front of Bam Vidyapeeth High School in Bhagabazar around 10:30 PM. Locals reported that the Mizoram-bound lorry was stationary on the road when the accident occurred.



The victim was identified as Chotu Barbhuiya from Bhagabazar. He was initially taken to Dhalai Primary Health Centre but succumbed to his injuries on the way to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.



When police arrived at the scene and attempted to seize the two vehicles, some local youths protested and tried to block the national highway. They demanded compensation of INR 20 lakh, but the situation was later brought under control.
