Gurugram (Haryana) [India], July 25 (HBTV): In a landmark moment for Indian sports, Ruchika Singh has become the first woman cyclist from India to win five medals at the prestigious World Police and Fire Games 2025 in Alabama, USA.
Competing in five demanding events—Road Race, Time Trial, Sprint, Hill Climb, and Circuit Race—Ruchika secured a bronze medal in each, setting a historic milestone for Indian cycling and women in uniformed services.
Her achievement has been supported by the M3M Foundation under its flagship Lakshya programme, led by Chairperson and Trustee Dr. Payal Kanodia. The initiative is aimed at nurturing exceptional talent in sports, arts, and education.
'The Lakshya Programme is our commitment to enabling India's youth to rise to their fullest potential,' said Dr. Kanodia. 'Ruchika's story is not just about winning medals; it's about the power of perseverance and providing the right platform at the right time.'
Ruchika, who shifted from boxing to cycling in 2018, hails from a modest background grounded in service and discipline. Currently serving as a constable in the Uttar Pradesh Police and the daughter of public servants, her journey reflects the transformative impact of structured support and opportunity.
Dr. Kanodia envisions the Lakshya programme as a launchpad for more such changemakers, particularly women, who are redefining standards of excellence at global platforms. 'At M3M Foundation, we are investing in stories like Ruchika’s—stories of talent, resilience, and hope,' she added.
Ruchika Singh’s victory is not just a personal milestone—it stands as an inspiration for every aspiring athlete in India.
