Imphal, Manipur, June 8 (HBTV): The grim saga of Manipur continues as six dead bodies have been found from Karam Vaiphei in Kangpokpi district on Wednesday. The six bodies were found after nearly 24 hours of sustained search operations. The discovery of the bodies has raised fears that they could be the six Naga persons who went missing from Leilon Vaiphei on May 13, this year.
When contacted, Manipur Police stated that around 450 personnel from the Manipur Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Assam Rifles were involved in the search operation. The operation was also assisted by sniffer dogs and forensic expert teams.
Police stated that necessary legal formalities were being carried out and that an investigation into the incident was underway.
The bodies are expected to be brought to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) of Imphal for post-mortem examination and identification procedures.
Official confirmation of the identities of the deceased is awaited.

Ironically, the discovery of the six bodies come amid the release of fourteen Kuki individuals, who had been abducted nearly a month ago by Naga groups in Manipur’s Senapati district. The fourteen were handed over to police and the civil administration following facilitation by the United Naga Council and Senapati-based civil society organisations.
