One militant reportedly to be from NSCN-K faction was killed, and another was apprehended by the Assam Rifles on the intervening night of March 3 and 4.
According to Ministry of Defence PRO statement, based on specific intelligence inputs on movement of cadres in carrying out abduction and extortion in general area Sangsa village in Mon district, Assam Rifles launched an operation on March 3 and the 4th night.
On intercepting the cadres, the Assam Riles troops were fired upon by the insurgents and in retaliation by the security forces, one insurgent has been killed while another insurgent has been apprehended, it stated.
In the ensuing firefight, it was informed that one automatic rifle, one automatic pistol, grenades, ammunition and other war like stores were recovered.
