Recruitment of constables to be through open recruitment: Nagaland Dy CM Patton

Kohima, Nagaland, March 1 (HBTV): Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton today said constables, under the Home department, will be carried out through open recruitment. 



Replying this to MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu in the ongoing Nagaland Legislative Assembly session, Patton said there will be three categories of posts: Constable (GD), Constable (MT) and Constable (NPTO). 



The deputy chief minister said that the total number of posts to be advertised in each of the categories is in the process of being finalized. 



These are the eligibility criteria: 18 to 35 years of age, one time relaxation of age by three years up to 38 years as on January 22, 2024. 



The educational qualification for the general category will be class-VIII-pass while for the backward tribes, it will be class VI-pass.  Physical/medical will be in accordance with standard norms notified by the department. 



On being asked whether the recruitment will be based on tribal quotas according to the ratio of population, Patton said recruitment will be in accordance with the existing reservation policy of the Nagaland government.
