Campaigning for Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency ends at 4 PM on April 17

The campaigning period for the general elections to the l8th Lok Sabha for the Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency shall come to an end at 4:00 PM on April 17.

Chumoukedima, Nagaland, April 16 (HBTV): The chief electoral officer of Nagaland Vyasan R has issued a notification stating the campaigning period for the general elections to the l8th Lok Sabha for the Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency shall come to an end at 4:00 PM on April 17.



After 4:00 PM of April 17, no person shall convene, hold, attend, join, or address any public meeting or procession in connection with elections, updates from the department of Information and Public Relations stated.



They are not to display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, television, or other similar apparatus.



They are not to propagate any election matter to the public by holding, or by arranging the holding of, any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement events with a view to attracting the members of the public.  



Any person who contravenes the stated provisions shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both. After the closure of campaign period no campaign can take place within the constituency.           



The presence of political functionaries and party workers, who have been brought from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency, should not remain present in the constituency as their continued presence after the end of the campaign period may undermine the atmosphere for free and fair poll, the authorities stated.         



The district election administration and police administration shall ensure that all political functionaries leave the constituency immediately after the campaign period is over which is after 4:00 PM of April 17.   



However, the restriction may not be insisted upon those office bearers of political parties who are in-charge of the state of Nagaland, the updates stated. Such office bearer shall declare their place of stay in the state headquarters and their movement during the period in question shall remain confined normally between their party office and place of their stay, the updates stated.
